Bible Study

Today was day one of the Amazing Collection study I'm attending at my church. We started with Genesis and I am surprised that I started thinking about adoption and parenting and families and stuff. Abraham and Sarah interested me. They both longed for a family and yet the children didn't come as they expected. Instead they waited and waited (sound familiar?) and in His perfect timing, He gave Sarah a son in her old age. This wasn't Abrahams first child (that's a whole other story) but God provided the child he promised.

We will have the family He promised, we just have to wait patiently. His timing is so far better that ours!!!

Genesis 7:6 Sara said "God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me." And she added,"Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet, I have borne him a son in
his old age"

***** on another note, Contest starting tomorrow at the personal blog. I try to keep these blogs separate but didnt want you to feel left out.

That is so awesome that you are doing that study. Isn't it so cool how God uses His word to speak to us right where we are, even through a story that happened thousands of years ago. His word is definitely alive and relevant!

And your baby is sooooo worth the wait!!

I know too well how that wait feels. It was hard for me to be patient. God's plan is perfect, and so is his timing. Our adoption process took 23 months. But once it was done, I could see how perfectly God orchestrated every detail along the way.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. As far as organization goes....Ha!

I plan to keep checking your blog. I LOVE LOVE LOVE adoption stories, and pray we can do it again. Blessings to you as you wait.

Amy, Thank you for this post. I needed to hear that today. I've been feeling very down about the wait and I needed to be reminded that God is at work here. I should know better, as with our first adoption, many things went wrong...which in reality, turned out to be 'right'... only I didn't realize it at the time. I know now everything was for a reason.

We decided to name our new daughter Sarah (the child of our old age!). During this looooong wait, it's good for me to remember her story in Scripture and to remember that God can do the impossible!

Ooooh Bible study sisters!! I started a Beth Moore study on Daniel 2 weeks ago! Loving it!!

Sarah, Rebecca and Elizabeth are some of my favorite heroines in the Bible just because the suffered from infertilty like me... And in the end... God blessed them all with children and they truly appreciated their miracles.

God will bless you too with an incredible miracle, she will be your perfect gift.

I always joke that I will be as old as Sarah and my husband OLDER than Abraham by the time we get our baby! I did the Beth Moore Patriarchs and it was an awesome one...
I enjoy popping in to your blog!
