Parenting

You know sometimes things just come to you? Well, when we first started going to our First Friday group, the Chapmans told us that this was more than adoption, we were becoming parents. Adoption takes an hour, parenting takes a lifetime.

Its true, we have finished paperchasing and waiting. Its true that one day we will get a referral with sweet LynnMarie's face and we will go to China to bring her home. Its true that we will be responsible for this child. Yes I have thought about this but tonight I really thought about this during our first small group meeting tonight.
I was thinking about the stuff that isn't exactly fun like discipline and getting shots and when they get booboos and the potential scary stuff like driving. The more I think about those things, the older I feel. But the more I appreciate my parents and what they have done for me..
I can't imagine what life will be like with LynnMarie. I am sure it will be beyond what I dream about. I wonder if she will have brothers or sisters and what she will be when she grows up. I have heard there are amazing books to read and next year we will probably start reading some.

Anyway, thats all. Its 1:40am. Best wishes to the Radicchi family. Rebecca is due to have her baby very soon..

You are too sweet for mentioning us! Thanks for thinking of us. We too have done lots of thinking, praying and preparing for parenthood. There are lots of books I can recommend to you when you are ready. You'll be great parents and truly being prepared everyday.

We'd appreciate your prayers!

We are blessed to have so many good models for good parenting in our lives.
Blessings to you both as you continue your adoption journey.

You will be an amazing mother and cherish every moment.
I have a son in driver's training and one in potty training! Life is beautiful and I am honored to be the one holding my children's hands through their childhoods. It is a blessing.

I too have thought about the "other" stuff of parenting that we don't focus much on in this process - and like you, it does make me feel old. I know that at my age, my Mom had three kids and one in high-school. I'm like "what the frig?!?!"

Just putting one foot in front of the other one on this stuff and hoping at the end of it, I have my kids with me!

Daddy S. and I had a very serious discussion at lunch today after church about the effects we will have on Spicy Girl's life. We had a special speaker this morning who really brought insight to how parents "parenting" or lack of effect our children's lives. It's a little scary, but amazing at the same time.

Parenting...I am still learning the ways of that one lol! When they say, "It is the best feeling in the world" (being a parent)...I can truly agree with that, but when Francesca is having one of her meltdowns, I want to lay down next to her and cry & scream as well... (remember, I am still in the learning stages). But meltdowns and all...it is the best!
